I do not know whether it is true. i can imagine that it is a rather tricky issue, where much of the right feels that elections were not all that great. that all the discussion was suppressed only helped fuel conspiratorial thinking. so I ca easily imagine that any attempt to take a more nuanced position might be interpreted as a rino symptom and a threat of another Liz Cheney or something. so, it is probably the smartest tactics not to touch the issue. in at least one primary Trump-backed candidate (who was peddling the stolen election) lost. a very quick search did not turn out any position on the 2020 election of the winner. but in terms of canceling, I strongly disagree - this is election, and the electorate can definitely use a few issues which are important as the qualifiers (whether I agree with the specific ones or not). so, a rep with pro-abortion position is not likely to succeed in most places (other than MA). similarly, position on gun rights is monitored pretty carefully. etc. this just reflects the issues that the electorate views as important. as for the elections issue specifically, I think that the election integrity and trustworthiness are extremely important for our society. and I am extremely unhappy where things were in 2020 on this. not because I do not accept Trump's loss there, but because all the problems with and around elections - and there were many - were swept under the rug, instead of being openly discussed and settled in the court of the public opinion. instead the country split into two main camps that barely talked to each other. so, if I had to pick a camp, I would probably lean towards those who believe the elections were stolen - at least they are interested in carefully analyzing the problems and trying to fix them.
If we’ve learned anything from this year’s primaries, it’s that Trump isn’t invincible. Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger both thumped Trump-endorsed challengers in Georgia. A handful of House Republicans who voted to create a bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol survived in last week’s primaries. And on Tuesday in South Carolina, Rep. Nancy Mace, despite her criticisms of the former president, was running ahead of her Trump-backed challenger.
