I think every criminal should be tried not for his actual crime by for the copyright violation because his crime was first depicted in a Hollywood movie.
This way we might be able to avoid things like "3 years probation for murder".
Finally, anyone who uses the expression "intellectual property" or calls copyright violators "thieves" or "pirates" should be called a "copyright vulture".
