Highsmith offers a Classroom Chart - Division:

which offers an entirely new view of division:

0	6÷0=0
0÷0=0	7÷0=0
1÷0=0	8÷0=0
2÷0=0	9÷0=0
3÷0=0	10÷0=0
4÷0=0	11÷0=0
5÷0=0	12÷0=0

Apparently, the equivalence a÷b=c ↔ a=b×c is not known to the Highsmith editors.

If you click on the link you will learn that this is not a specific school but a publishing house. Depending on their commercial success you may be able to find this poster in every school in every state or nowhere at all.
I hope for the latter.
If you are indeed concerned about this outrage, please contact the publishing house and demand that they withdraw the "product". I did - no reply so far.

there are good schools in this country, and then there are sucky - just like in any other country.
they do indeed have a somewhat different emphasis here - social skills et al, as is quite appropriate for a post-industrial society.

I am so tired from fighting with schools, and we are living in a good school region, so it is common in US...

I am just trying to do the best that i can, we are in exellent sunday school, where math under sigapure teaching method with singapure text and workbooks, and variables we are having in 3 rd grade, not in 9th.

I am sure that there will be no answer, so just save your time.

Unfortunately i can not provide for my kids the best english, so I am not in homeschooling....

nda, eto ya tozhe uzhe ponyala, imenno shto v zalozhnikah, ot uchitelnitsi, kotoraya ponyatiya ne imeyet chto takoye matematika v celom, i voobsche slabo obrazovana po drugim predmetam, zavisit poydet li moy rebyenok kotoriy uzhe reshayet uravneniya v tretyem klasse, cherez god v advanced math class, v kotorom vsyo ravno uravneniy ne budet, a budet ne 2+2, a 2+12...
oh, poshla tabletku pit' ot zlosti i pobolshe pobolshe...:)

у вас что бил подобный опыт?
дело в том, что приблизително это и сказали дочке моей подруги, когда она не прошла в advances
класс, мол нафига вам это, она и так всё знает.
да затем черт побери чтоби она знала что не зря её мама лишает воскресенья, что всё таки она таким образом better then kids that do not doing each day... singapure math instead of playing on backyard. but how explain such to stupid teacher...
I think that it is like we are paying for advantages that we have in this country instead of disadvantages in Russia. Because if everything will be just great, it will be not real...:)

So being looking forward to some ways of site promotion I got to the community "equal access". there was a post, telling on a women with two sons, of 18 and 6 years. BOTH OF THEM HAD HEMOPHILIA. This woman was getting 6000 USD PER EACH MONTHLY from her medical insurance. for her it was a kind of earning monedy. this case was somewhat discussed there - how these funds can be got by former husband or something like that...

Well, you know about the genetic (and female related one!)nature of that decease. she was to be told for sure after the first baby. What was the second son for?
the more of such case I meet the more sure I get that this system is doomed. At the same time it goes on well enough. Isn't it a prove of its success?

Irene, your example makes moreand more respecting the American system. You see, I can explain it. Many idiots can be found anywhere. Certainly there are thousands of them in the USA. there they are even wider and less educated - country life, what would you expect? there they are just more evidentand certainly much louder - the sory on washing mashine instroction and so on - hence the system istobe highly fool-proof not to fail down.
